Summer is Almost Over...
Well it's about that time again ...fall is right around the corner, and soon enough it will be time to tuck away your flip flops. I know, it sucks, but you can't deny it - when the aisles at the big box stores are all busting with binders, and duotangs - it's time. Back to school is around the corner and summer vacations are drawing to an end - the official wind down of summer has begun.
How did your summer go? Did you 'slim down' for your bikini? Did you finally accomplish running that 5K? There is something about the long days of summer that makes you think you have tons of time to conquer all these fantastically ambitious fitness goals. But between road trips fueled by fast food drive-thrus, lazy pool days and BBQs and juggling karate and soccer - summer is actually the toughest time of the year to keep up with your diet and fitness. Well that's okay, think of this time of 'back-to-classes' as just that - our new Fall schedule will help you along with that! New season, new goals!
Right now, we're putting the final touches to the schedule which we plan to launch September 21st. Looking for a class that we don't currently offer? Send us an email; we'll see what we can do. In fact, we'd love to hear any comments or suggestions you may have for us. We are also putting together some interesting workshops for this fall/winter season. We want to be able to offer something for everyone; again your suggestions are welcome! Below you can see David's popular Intro to Yoga begins September 21 and we also have a new and exciting (and delicious!) workshop integrating yoga and raw food eating. Sandy will lead her famous relaxing yin/restorative class, and we are pleased to welcome Carol of Belmonte Raw - it will be a great chance to bond with your fellow yogis.
After the great response our Yoga for Golfers program got this summer, we decided to continue to offer this program at the studio as a means for off-season golf training. I had the opportunity to be a part of several charity golf tournaments this summer and organizers were thrilled when I offered Stratusphere
to lead the warm-up stretch. Both Denise and Jessie joined me over
the last few months as we spread the word and got people thinking of
yoga as a conditioning activity. After some grunts and groans
initially, the idea that yoga can help improve your golf game
started to be more accepted in the golf circles as both players and
the golf media outlets started to make the yoga/golf connection.
Last week Jessie and I attended a tournament for the Nelson Mandela
Children's Fund, and I'm not saying it's because I gave him some
hands on adjustments - but this gentleman this gentleman thanked me for the stretch...and his hole-in-one! Check out our golf page for more pictures and videos as well as more information about the charities we supported this summer.
Well, the team and I worked hard this summer to spread the word of yoga, and I am slowly but surely getting closer to my goal of 'getting the world to do yoga' (I know, I have a tendency to dream big). Everyone is entitled to feel great and when you feel great, you have a better chance at being your best 'you'. When you integrate a daily practice into your life that allows you alittle one-on-one time with yourself, a moment to stop and breathe and think 'what do I want out of today... out of my life'. And it's kinda cool you're getting all this mental and spiritual stuff but you're also getting a kick butt workout - talk about multi-tasking! So, come on, if you're not already onboard - it's time to get your butt on this train. Heck, I even got my girl Jully Black on board this summer ... or should I say 'om-board' - okay, that was bad! Oh, how I love a good pun.
See you at the studio soon!
